A sweet and salty snack that combines crispy potato chips with rich milk chocolate. These homemade chocolate-covered chips are easy to make and perfect for parties, movie nights, or gifting.
1cupmilk chocolate chips or chopped milk chocolate
1teaspooncoconut oil or vegetable oiloptional, for smooth melting
Optional toppings: sea saltcrushed nuts, sprinkles, or white chocolate drizzle
Instructions
Prepare the Chips: Lay the potato chips on a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure they are not overlapping.
Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the milk chocolate in 20-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler for gentle heating. If needed, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil for a silkier texture.
Dip the Chips: Using a fork or tongs, dip each chip halfway or fully into the melted chocolate, letting excess chocolate drip off.
Set the Chips: Place the chocolate-covered chips back onto the parchment paper. If using toppings, sprinkle them over before the chocolate hardens.
Let Them Cool: Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature for 30 minutes or place in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes for faster hardening.
Enjoy! Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Notes
Use ridged or kettle-cooked potato chips for better sturdiness.
Dark or white chocolate can be substituted for different flavor variations.
Adding a pinch of sea salt enhances the sweet-salty contrast.
These make great edible gifts when packed in decorative bags!
