¼cupsugaroptional: can substitute with honey for sweetness
Instructions
Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until frothy. Add melted butter and salt, then slowly incorporate flour. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and place on a greased baking tray, leaving space between them.
Bake: Brush rolls with melted butter and bake at 375°F for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown on top and soft in the center.
Serve: Enjoy warm with butter, jam, or any of your favorite spreads.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients to help the yeast rise properly.
You can refrigerate the dough overnight after the first rise for improved flavor.
For softer rolls, don’t overbake them—ensure they are golden brown and soft in the center.
