1 can (8-count) refrigerated croissant dough (or puff pastry sheets)
1/2 cup lump crab meat, drained
1/2 lb shrimp, peeled & chopped (reserve a few whole shrimp for topping)
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated parmesan
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 tsp Old Bay seasoning (or Cajun seasoning)
1 tbsp chopped parsley (plus extra for garnish)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Salt & black pepper, to taste
Cooking spray or butter for greasing
Step-by-Step Instructions
Prep the Dough Cups
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a standard muffin tin with cooking spray or butter.
Unroll the croissant dough. If using perforated dough, pinch seams together, then cut into 8 roughly equal squares or rectangles.
Press each piece of dough into a muffin cup, pressing it up the sides to form a deep well that will hold the seafood filling.
Make the Creamy Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, lump crab meat, chopped shrimp, shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, minced garlic, Old Bay (or Cajun seasoning), chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper.
Stir until everything is evenly blended and the seafood and cheese are fully coated in the cream cheese mixture.
Fill and Top
Spoon the seafood filling into each dough-lined muffin cup, dividing it evenly. Fill almost to the top, but don’t overpack.
Place one reserved whole shrimp on top of each filled cup for a striking presentation.
Beat the egg with a splash of water to make an egg wash. Brush the exposed dough edges lightly to encourage a shiny, golden crust.
Bake Until Puff & Golden
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the croissant cups are puffed, the tops are bubbly and lightly browned, and the dough is deep golden.
Remove the pan from the oven and let the cups cool in the tin for a few minutes to firm up slightly before removing.
Garnish and Serve
Carefully loosen each cup with a butter knife and transfer to a serving platter.
Sprinkle with extra chopped parsley and serve warm. These work beautifully for brunch, holiday spreads, game day, or elegant seafood appetizers.
